Ashe County Rescue Squad main base is located at 300 Mount Jefferson Rd , West Jefferson. It is between the towns of West Jefferson and Jefferson. It houses Rescue 2 , our first out crash truck on motor vehicle crashes, Rescue 3 and the water trailer, Rescue 5, and Rescue 7 , Rescue 8 and our Argo. We have our bi-monthly meetings here. Directly behind the building is a 42' tower used for high angle training.
Our second base, located in Baldwin at the intersection of Hwy 221S and Hwy 194S was open September 2024. It houses a rescue truck, an ambulance, our command trailer and another trailer with vests and helmets for active shooter incidents. We also allow the West Jefferson Fire Dept to house a pumper / tanker in the Base. This location allows for a quicker , better response to rescue calls to the southern part of Ashe County and for the fire dept to better service property on Hwy 194S.
